Lučební Závody a.s., located in Kolin, Czech Republic, is a manufacturer of silicone sealants for a wide range of applications.
High energy costs forced the modernization of the cooling system of the production line. The application requires the removal of almost 300 kW of heat for propylene glycol from 35 °C to 27 °C at a maximum ambient temperature of 35 °C, with an annual energy consumption of no more than 3,550 kW.
The solution designed and manufactured by ThermoKey was a Dry Liquid Cooler equipped with the EPS (Evaporative Panel System). This system, based on evaporative panels, complements the ThermoKey offer in the field of adiabatic subcooling. Thanks to the even and adjustable distribution of water on the panels, this system allows you to achieve a high level of saturation, and thus effectively increase efficiency with low water consumption (the number of hours per year is practically unlimited). EPS is designed for seasonal work cycles without any time constraints and can be completely dismantled for cleaning and maintenance. Thanks to the evaporation of the water that wetted the beds, there is no need to protect the heat exchanger against corrosion. It is possible to use water distributed through the water supply network.
To guarantee the highest quality and safety of its products, ThermoKey has had its EPS system certified by an independent institution. The hygiene certificate refers to the VDI 2047-2 standard, which takes into account the requirements set by law and industry standards in the main countries where the product is used.
